Comprising limited edition, one-of-a-kind, and offset books, the collection is representative of major book artists working today, including many who trained in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Art Department. Book artists represented in the collection include Harriet Bart, Carol Barton, Ken Campbell, Carol Chase Bjerke, Julie Chen, Maureen Cummins, Tracy Dietzel, Henrik Drescher, Johanna Drucker, Tim Ely, . The collection of artists' books at Otis College of Art and Design began and grew significantly during this period due largely to the efforts of librarian Joan Hugo, a recognized expert in artists' books. The Artists’ Books Collection, one of the component collections of the Australian Library of Art, is one of the largest publicly available collections of artists' books in Australia, and is recognised as one of the best in the country.
